The Pied Pipers were founded in 1951 by Rex Freeman, Terry Hawes , John Waller and friends to perform reviews and musicals. By the time of the Golden Jubilee in 2001 the club had performed 60 shows at various venues in Cambridge, mainly at the Arts Theatre, the Mumford Theatre or the ADC Theatre. Since that time the club has successfully put on a further ten shows, making 70 productions in total.
A few Snaps of recent productions............
Membership is by audition and is open to anyone with a keen interest in either singing, acting, dancing, or preferably all three. Auditions usually take place around four months prior to a production, followed by twice weekly rehearsals for around 2-3 months before opening night.
Auditions are friendly, relaxed occasions and take place in private with the Production Director, Musical Director, Choreographer and one independent management committee member to ensure fair play. Please don’t be be nervous; everyone is very welcoming, understanding and friendly. We take the quality of our work very seriously but never lose sight of the fact that it’s always a lot of fun too! If you’re interested in taking part, either on stage or as part of our backstage team, please contact the Secretary for more details.
