From 26th–30th March 2019, the Pied Pipers will bring sex, drugs & rock ’n’ roll to the Cambridge community theatre stage!
Green Day’s American Idiot is a high-energy punk rock opera exploring the disillusionment of a generation coming of age in a tumultuous world. Johnny, Will and Tunny each search for meaning in the post 9/11 era. Fuelled with sex, drugs, and vital angst, the friends’ dreams smash against reality with rock ‘n’ roll force.
This energetic show won two Tony Awards in 2010, plus a Grammy for its soundtrack in 2011. Now the show will give the Pied Pipers Musical Theatre Club a chance to showcase the fantastic dance, acting and vocal talent of the Cambridge amdram musical scene, whilst also bringing lovers of this high-octane music into the theatre.
Featuring the music of Green Day and a book written by lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong – alongside award-winning director Michael Mayer – this electric show is as relevant today as when it first burst onto the American stage in 2009, speaking to anyone looking for their place in a fast-changing world.
And it packs a powerful theatrical punch...
Contains strong language, sex and drug references. Not suitable for under 14s.
